Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of oxygenic force atomization inhalation of Modified Zhizhu Decoction on intestinal function recovery of postoperative patients with cancer of sigmoid colon and rectum (in short of colorectal cancer). Methods Forty-seven cases of colorectal cancer who have received the radical surgery were divided into treatment group (N=28)and control group (N=19). Both groups were given routine treatment such as fasting, gastrointestinal decompression, anti-infectious treatment and symptomatic treatment, and additionally treatment group was given oxygenic force atomization inhalation of Modified Zhizhu Decoction (mainly composed of Fructus Aurantii lmmaturus, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis, Fructus Amomi, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) every 8 hours. Time for the recovery of aerofluxus and defecation, time for the recovery of bowel sound, and the drainage volume after gastrointestinal decompression were observed in both groups. Results Time for the recovery of aerofluxus and defecation and time for the recovery of bowel sound were shortened, and the drainage volume after gastrointestinal decompression ~as decreased in the treatment group as compared with the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion Oxygenic force atomization inhalation of Modified Zhizhu Decoction shows certain effect on intestinal function recovery of postoperative patients with colorectal cancer.
