The necessity of development of fast-growing and high-yield poplar forest in passageway greening was analyzed from the great-leap-forward development of forestry in Shanxi, the building of well-off society in rural areas, the adjustment of industrial structure in industrialization of forestry, the contradiction between timber supply and demand and increase of agricultural production. The feasibility of development of fast-growing and high-yield poplar forest in passageway greening was analyzed from market demand, demand of pulp and paper material, demand of artificial plate and project construction.
