将理工科院校的基础英语教学与批判性思维能力的培养相结合,有利于在提高英语专业学生语言技能的同时培养其思维能力。在阐述了批判性思维的涵义的基础上、分析了理工科院校基础英语教学中培养学生批判性思维的重要性,并结合教学案例着重探讨了基础英语教学与批判性思维教学相结合的有效途径。

Cultivating critical thinking in the Intensive Reading course in science-oriented universities will im- prove English majors＇ thinking skills as well as language skills. First, the definitions of critical thinking are dis- cussed. Then the importance and the effective ways of fostering English majors＇ critical thinking are shown by applying the critical thinking training skills in the Intensive Reading course in science-oriented universities.
