Objective To evaluate the effect of gingko leaf on long-term hospitalized male schizophremc attention and memo rization damage. Methods A total of 120 long-term hospitalized male schizophrenic were divided into two groups randomly. They all took risperidone tablets for 12 weeks, while patients in experimental group took gingko leaf at the same time. To inspect the at- tention and memorization of patieats before and after the treatment through SCW,CPT,digital sequence test, verbal and visual memory test in RBANS. Results At the end of the 12th week, patients in experimental group improved inordinately at all the SCW, CPT right reactions, digital sequence test, verbal and visual memory test (t =-2.09,-3.40,-2.38,-3.72,-2.01 ) P〈 0.05 ). Compared with control group, there were great differences before and after the treatment in the CPT right reactions, digital se- quence test ,verbal and visual memory test (t : 2, 61,2.62,2.21 2.83, P〈0.05). There were no obvious differences in SCW and CPT correct reaction time (t= 1. 92,-1. 62)P〉 0. 05). Conclusion The combination of ginkgo leaf extract with antipsychotic drugs will improve the long-term hospitalized male schizophrenic' attention and memorization, and may be applied as synergist on the schizophrenics mainly with negative symptoms or have obvious cognitive function damage.
