The Early Xinjiang Literature and Art and Contemporary Xinjiang Literature

1951年创刊的《新疆文艺》为新疆当代文学奠定了基本的格调:新疆的文艺刊物必须要突出中国共产党的决定性影响作用;新疆的文艺工作者要注意民族问题的如何表现;对汉族作家而言,从事新疆文学创作必须要关注和具有少数民族文学的题材;新疆汉语文学刊物,必须要有少数民族文学作品的刊载。早期《新疆文艺》是了解新疆解放初期社会文化生态景观的窗口。

Xinjiang Literature and Art created in 1951 set the tone for contemporary Xinjiang literature. Literary journals in Xinjiang must highlight the determining role of the CPC, Xinjiang literature and art workers must pay attention to how ethnic issues are expressed, literature and art workers of ethnic Han Chinese must care about themes about ethnic minority literature, and literary journals published in Chinese in Xinjiang must publish literary works about ethnic minorities. The early Xinjiang Literature and Art is a window on understanding the socio-cultural conditions in Xinjiang in 1950s and 1960s.
