Political Narrative or Historical Event——On If Chen Duxiu Raised the Banner of Democracy and Science

近年有学者以《新青年》杂志为视点,对新文化运动的兴起予以细致考证,认为民主与科学只是陈独秀用来"震慑"反对者的。但考诸时人述说,其实并非如此,其论证亦存在几处纰漏。陈独秀举起民主与科学大旗一事已构成一种正在发生着的政治叙事,但其首先是一个已经发生过的历史事件。

In recent years, from the perspective of ＂New Youth＂ magazine some scholars carefully engaged in textual research and criticism to the origin of New Culture Movement and regarded democracy and science just as ＂to terrify＂ the opponents used by Chen Duxiu. But the facts were not like that and there were certain flaws. The issue of Chen Duxiu raising the banner of democracy and science had already constituted an emerging political narrative, but it was first a historic event happened before.
