摘要
几年前，与一位西方的雕塑家聊起中国的雕塑。他说，实在难以理解为什么中国有这么多不锈钢雕塑，形象真是太丑了。我说，或许不同的国家的审美习惯不同吧。他说，也许如此，但他就是不喜欢。
The stainless material itself has many esthetical characteristics, but the realization of these features need perfect processing. In 1990s, urban sculpture took stainless steel sculpture as principle thing. The demand of face-saving projects, the promotion of economic interests, and superficial understanding to contempo- rary art made urban sculpture works showed a distorted prosperity. In the condition of unfamiliar with the material properties of stainless steel, lack of refined processing condition and cultural understanding on this material, the stainless steel urban sculpture left a simple, pale and frivolous impression.
