在吸收我国汉族传统砖雕艺术的基础上,临夏砖雕艺术更新演化出各种雕刻技法、画幅结构、题材内容,成为独立的一个工艺美术门类,形成了自己独特的民族风格和区域文化个性特征。临夏八坊清真北寺"龙凤呈祥"砖雕影壁和回族政要马步青的住宅东公馆"江山图"砖雕影壁分别代表了河州地区明清宗教建筑和民国民居砖雕装饰的精品制作。

Based on the absorption of Chinese traditional brick carving art, Linxia brick carving art updated and evolved various carving techniques, frame structure, theme and contents, become an indepen- dent arts and crafts category, and formed its own unique national style and regional cultural individuality. The ＂Dragon and Phoenix ＂ brick wall of Linxia Bafang Muslim Temple and ＂Jiangshan ＂ brick wall of Hui dignitary Ma Buqing＇ s resident East Mansion respectively represent religious architecture in the river area of Ming and Qing Dynasties and fine production of brick decoration of houses in the Republican period.
