Symbol System and Symbol of the Art World:Important Features of Oriental Aesthetics and Art

东方审美思维是诗性的、想象的思维,与传统的西方美学所运用的理性的、逻辑的分析思维不同。东方民族的诗性的思维用想象的方式创造了大量的富有情感的意象,这些大量的意象经过大脑的分类和秩序化处理后,形成了"想象的类概念"。因此,东方艺术是意象性的艺术,东方的艺术理论是诗性的理论。东方意象艺术有三个特点:它是非理性的象征性艺术;东方艺术具有明确的非科学性;古代东方艺术所表现的时空观念是原始思维的诗性的时空观念,与西方科学的时空观制约下的艺术有根本的区别。

The oriental aesthetic thinking is poetic and imaginative thinking, which differs from rational and logical analytical thinking of the traditional western aesthetics. Oriental poetic thinking creates a large number of rich emotional imagery in an imaginative way. These large images form the ＂concepts of imaginative class＂ through classification and orderly processing of the brain. Therefore, the oriental art is the imaginative art. The oriental art theory is the poetic theory. Oriental culture has three characteristics, the irrational symbolism art; unclear scientific basis; the primitive space-time concept of ancient oriental art, which is fundamentally different from the western scientific art.
