On the Application of AWE System in High-level Students’ EFL Writing Learning

摘要 该研究对作文自动评价系统在高水平学生英语写作学习中的作用进行了实验和调查。结果显示,该系统有助于学生发现作文表层问题,但在评分和评语反馈方面存在固有的缺陷,对写作内容的提高帮助较少,导致学生对系统的认可度总体不高。因此,现代信息教学技术的推广应充分考虑到信息技术的优势和缺陷,以及学习者的水平、学习目的等各种因素。 There has been wide research on the roles that Automated Writing Evaluation system can play in English writing teaching. While most of the studies were conducted on students with low-level writing ability, this research attempts to find to what extent WRM system can help advanced EFL learners in their writing learning. With an experiment which lasted 18 weeks, it is found that, although the system is helpful to student writers in locating surface language problems, some of its inherent defects, particularly the problems with grading, feedback, and writing contents, fail to make it accepted by students. Thus, the application of modem pedagogical technology should take into consideration various factors, including learner's proficiency and learning goals.
