五溪文化在空间上生成于五溪地区独特的地理环境中。在时间上,萌芽于旧石器时代,初步形成于商周时期,成熟于秦汉时期。在文化结构上,以傩文化、巫文化、盘瓠文化为主,同时融巴蜀文化、越文化、楚文化、中原文化、洞庭湖区文化于一体,显示出文化的多元性。"蛮"、"濮"等不同族系的居民是五溪文化的早期创造者,华夏、巴人、百越等早期族群的互动对五溪文化的形成起到了有力的推动作用。

Wuxi Culture is formed in unique geographical environment of Wuxi area.On time,it originated from the Old Stone Age,initially formed in the Shang and Zhou dynasties,matured in Qin and Han dynasties.In cultural structure,it is multiple,including nuo,wu,panhu,bashu,chu culture as ＂man＂,＂pu＂ and the others civilians interaction playing a powerful role in formation of Wuxi Culture.
