摘要约翰·班扬的《天路历程》是英国文学史上最具代表性的宗教寓言故事,被看作是仅次于圣经的基督教重要经典。《天路历程》记录了基督徒和女基督徒克服艰难险阻,抵挡世俗诱惑,战胜魔鬼威逼,凯旋进入天国的历程。清教思想贯穿于本部作品,主要体现在现世争战观、上帝的救赎和恩典观及"人人皆祭司,人人有召唤"三个方面。《天路历程》突破了宗教、民族和文化的界限,为人生提供了指南,为心路历程开启了航标。 John Bunyan＇s Pilgrim＇s Progress is unanimously acknowledged as the most famous allegory in British literature. Pilgrim＇s Progress vividly portrays how a Christian and his wife overcame obstacles, resisted the secular allurements, defeated the devil and triumphantly entered the heaven. This work is permeated with ideas of Puritanism, which is mainly exhibited through three aspects, such as Christian＇s spiritual battle on earth, God＇s Salvation and Grace and the doctrine that ＂ everyone is a priest and is called＂. Based on the aforementioned three aspects, the essence of Puritanism will be excavated and illustrated.
