摘要
Global demand for rare earth metals from China climbed in the first quarter, even though domestic producers and processors reported losses. According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, rare earth exports rose 55% in March from February, to 1,718 metric tons. The export volume in the first three months grew by 47.3% to 3,916 tons. However, in the same period, experts by value dropped 71~/o. Chen Zhanheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Rare Earths Industry Association attributed the growth in export volume to a price decline in 2011, which gave a stimulus to overseas buyers.
