The death of Sibyl Vane in Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and the death of the little cold selfishness. But actually they are the costs paid for crossing the boundary of truth and fancy. The artistic con- ception of the author hidden in them: art is unrealistic; the real aim of art is relating beautiful and untrue story. So fabrication in art is of great value. Once the art gives up imagination and begins to embrace truth, the perfection of the art form will suffer from spoliation and the art is facing death.
