摘要
《西太后》是文明戏时期的大戏,自民鸣社创编后曾被多个社团搬演。本文对《西太后》的面貌、剧情来源、搬演流变及其与传奇《安乐窝》、改良京戏《西太后》之关系作了较为详细的考证,指出周天悲等后来回忆的《安德海大闹龙舟》《光绪与珍妃》实为《西太后》中的"折子戏";且认为小说《西太后》虽对民鸣社《西太后》有一定之影响,但其可能主要取材于小说《慈禧外纪》。本文深入分析后认为,《西太后》成分虽驳杂,但依然掩盖不住其鼓吹种族革命的思想和对"时代之道"的自觉承担,并不是以往人们所指认的"淫戏"二字所能概括。
Hsi T'ai Hou is a full-scale drama in the period of wenmingxi(civilized drama),which had been adapted and performed by many acting groups.This paper focuses on Hsi T'ai Hou's features,themes,sources of plots and changes created by different acting groups.It studies the relationships among Chuan qi An Lê Kao,the Shanghai school of Beijing opera Hsi T'ai Hou and Hsi T'ai Hou created by Min Ming Group.Then,the thesis points out that An Tehai stired up trouble in a dragon-boat(An Dehai da nao long zhou) and Kuang Hsu and Princess Chen are scenes(zhe zi xi) of Hsi T'ai Hou.In fact,some novels maybe have an effect on Hsi T'ai Hou of Min Ming Group.On the basis of textual research,we can arrive at a conclusion that China Under the Empress Dowager wrote by J.O.Bland was the principal source of Hsi T'ai Hou of Min Ming Group,although Hsi T'ai Hou written by a Japanese politician also inspired the drama to a certain extent.Above all,it reveals that Hsi T'ai Hou can't be labeled as an obscene play(yin xi) but advocates national revolution and the spirit of the new period in essence,although it looks like a varicolored crystal ball.
