Objective To detect the exon 20th point mutations of the insulin receptor gene in hypertensives.Methods 116 cases with essential hypertension and 44 normotensives were recruited.PCR SSCP analysis technique was used to indentify point mutations of the exon 20th of the insulin receptor gene.Results No mutation of the exon 20th of the insulin receptor gene was found in all subjects.Conclusion The exon 20th point mutation of the insulin receptor gene does not often occur in hypertensives.
