Extensive reading is a basic course for English majors, the proper use of reading skills can help students to improve the ability in reading. Many students focus on the accuracy in reading comprehension rather than the key role the reading skills play in reading efficiency. Therefore, the course of reading skills is necessary for the improving the ability of reading comprehension. English teachers should fully understand the teaching significance, purpose, task and teaching strategies of the course, guiding students to theory study and practice so that they can promote reformation and innovation in reading skill courses for English majors.
