This article is a study on the intertextuality between two great tragedies： William Shakespeare＇s Hamlet and Anton Chekhov＇s The Seagull. This relationship can help us understand the text and the profound thought in The Seagull. The problems of family and love facing the protagonist Treplieff mirror the changes from Shakespeare＇ s drama to modern drama concerned with the same eternal problem.
