Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on May 17th and called for a stronger partnership between the two nations, with both having a rich traditional culture. Xi said China and Greece should enhance their comprehensive strategic partnership to benefit the people of the two countries and promote peace and development of the world as a whole. Samaras said Greece and China are closely linked to each other in culture and he thanked the Chinese side for endorsement for the European country's efforts to resolve the debt crisis. China is a reliable friend and the Greek side regards China's development as an opportunity. Lauding China's adherence to the path of peaceful development, Samaras said he believes China is an important power to safeguard peace and promote development of the world. Premier Li Keqiang told his visiting Greek counterpart Antonis Samaras that he expected to see the current bilateral trade volume double by 2015. Chinese official figures show two-way trade reaching $3.38 billion in 2012. On May 16th, Capt. Wei Jiafu, Chairman of COSCO Group met with the state-visiting Prime Minister of Greece Antonis Samaras and his senior delegation in Diaoyutai State Guest House. Both parties thoroughly exchanged views on collaborations between COSCO Group and the Port of Piraeus. At the meeting, Prime Minister Samaras said that COSCO Group enjoys the best reputation among all foreign companies in Greece, and COSCO Group has made tremendous contribution to the Greek economic developments. In many occasions, he acknowledged the collaboration between COSCO Group and Port of Piraeus as a well-exemplified model of Sino-Greek cooperation that is mutually beneficial and win-win.
