On the Reasons of the British Supporting Rana Autocratic Regime in the Revolution of Nepal in the Early 1950

During 1950- 1951 Nepal witnessed a democratic revolution which turned down the autocratic Rana Regime. In such a remarkable transformation the UK had insisted on supporting the old feudal Regime. The important reasons for British doing so was that the British wanted to keep the special relationship of Anglo - Nepal and relied on the tradition of the recruit- ment＇ of Gurkhars when her strength was much reduced in Asian colonies. The British became afraid of interference of other country＇ s affairs when she had no enough energy for it. At the same time, they had doubts about the Nepali democrat＇ s administrative ability under the influence of the British experientialism tradition. Therefore, they wanted to retain Rana regime by the excuse of keeping the principle of non - interference of international law.
