摘要
歌德的《论德意志建筑艺术》从三个方面引申了其美学理论:一、对德国新古典主义的批判;二、对德意志哥特式建筑精神的重新认识;三、从德意志民族精神的独特性角度提出特征论观点。但歌德理解的德意志哥特式精神实际上并不是中世纪的哥特式精神,而是一种明显具有新古典主义人性内涵的新的时代精神。
On German Architecture Art, completed by Goethe in 1772, was a paper about the architectural style of Strasbourg Cathedral. It was influenced by Herder's spirit of Storm and Stress. In this paper, Goethe expressed his aesthetic views from three aspects: firstly, he criticized the neoclassicism of Germany; secondly, he gave a new understanding of the Gothic architecture, and praised the greatness of the building; thirdly, he put forward the aesthetic characteristics from the unique spirit of Germany. However, the German Gothic spirit as Goethe understood was not that of the Middle Age, but the epochal spirit including the humanistic connotation of neoclassicism.
