Wandering Loneliness ——Observation of the "Dweller" and "Wanderer" in Yan Geling's Novels

新移民作家群的重要代表严歌苓是海外华文文坛的一朵奇葩,几乎一年一本的新作以及众多作品被改拍成影视剧使她在当今文坛越来越引人注目。其文本中"寄居者"与"漂流人"两类边缘人物的命运境遇,展现了在中西文化夹缝中的一种孤独。

Yan Geling, an important representative of new immigrant writers, is an exotic flower in overseas Chinese litera- ture. Her new works come out every year, and most of these novels have been turned into movies and television plays, making her more and more noticeable in modem literature. This article, by presenting the fates of the ＂dweller＂ and the ＂wanderer＂--tow distinguished types of marginal figures--in her novels, discusses the loneliness embodied by her works in the gap of Chinese and Western cultures.
