摘要
英语学习者的词块使用能力被认为是提高语言水平、使学习者的语言更接近目标语的一种能力。通过调查学习者故事复述中的语块使用情况,本研究探讨了学习者英语词块能力和利用语言知识建构语言表达的能力之间的关系,并提出英语教学不应仅限于单词层面,而应该扩展到词块层面;同时,还应关注通过规则生成句子的创造性过程,因为语言交际不是词块的堆砌,词块使用的数量也不是检验语言水平的唯一标准。
It is generally believed that English learner's ability of using lexical chunks could facilitate language proficiency and the native-likeness of interlanguage.In this study,focusing on a special type of discourse—story retelling,we investigate the use of lexical chunks against the lexical chunks in the input.The balance between the use of lexical chunks and the making-up of phrases and sentences based on grammatical knowledge in communication is also discussed.It is argued that while it is important to focus on chunk learning and teaching,it is also essential to encourage learners to be linguistically creative.Real communication is not simply the accumulation of chunks and the number of chunks used should not be the sole criteria for judging language proficiency.
