An Analysis of Regional Writing by Hainan Local Writers

海南的现代性进程影响了本土的文化生态。以现代性为总体特征的外来文化与海南本土文化相交汇,形成了一种风格独异的文化杂糅。一些敏感的本土作家对这一文化形态有着独特的体验。与自我认同相关的尊严守护,以及弥合现代与乡土的冲动,自然构成了本土地域书写的精神内核。不过,此类书写奏响的仍旧是一曲忧伤的文化挽歌。

Hainan＇ s modernity process has exerted some impact on the local cultural ecology, for the integra-tion of the foreign culture marked by modernity with Hainan＇ s local culture has resulted in specific cultural blend of some sort, of which some sensitive local writers have had some unique experience. While the defense of dignity re- lated to self-identification and the impulse to bridge modernity with local flavour have definitely constituted the spir-itual core of regional writing, this type of writing still smacks of a sad cultural elegy.
