The Interpretation of Historical Metaphors in August Wilson's Selected Plays

戏剧符号学是一门萌芽于20世纪初并结合了结构语言学的学科。本文通过运用戏剧符号学理论对威尔逊剧作中的布景道具、人物名字、音乐和服装符号中所包含的历史隐喻进行解读,旨在剖析美国黑人的勇士精神——尽管遭受过奴隶制和种族歧视,他们仍勇敢乐观地与命运进行抗争,在白人占主导地位的社会中努力展现作为一个黑人的尊严和社会价值。

Through the analysis of the historical metaphors contained in the sign of props, the character＇s names, music and the costume by us- ing the theory of Semiotics of Theatre, this paper aims to reveal the African American＇s warrior spirit -although they suffered the slavery and racial discrimination, they struggle against fate optimistically and bravely and show the dignity and social value as a black man in the white-domlnated society.
