The construction of the excellent course website of ＂English and American Literature and Selected Readings＂ aims at the implementation of the project of undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform. The design for a course website plays a vital role in the effective service for learning and teaching. Based on the teaching characteristics of the literature course, the article firstly presents four principles of the website design, namely the principle of multi-functions, serving teaching principle, open and sharing principle and developing and demonstrative principle. Secondly, it provides a detailed illustration of the structural design of the literature excellent course website, including the homepage design, display system design and background management system design. Thirdly, the article discusses ten functions of the website, containing interactive communications, online reading, learning recording, online testing, audio-video playing, quick searching, graphic moving, links, updating and download. Through the description and analysis of the design, it comes to the conclusion that an intelligent website design, by means of scientific and efficient teaching technology and by the construction and perfection of the high quality teaching resources, can embody modern educational ideology, gain a remarkable teaching effect and actualize the multi-functions of auxiliary learning and teaching, demonstration and promotion of the literature excellent course.
