摘要
现代性的重要特点之一是公共性。它要求人们在公共领域中,拥有自主性、理性化、契约化、自律化的品格。这样的社会如何形成,如何凝结为一个整体?本文提出,公共领域因为有了制度规则,从而极大地提高了人类共同体生活(活动)的空间和质量。自由、平等、自愿的合作体系之所以可能,是因为有各种有形无形的"制度"保障,制度需要公民的品德支撑,公民品德是社会生活中形成的获得性品质,需要教育、塑造和培铸。
Modernity has the public feature which asks autonomy, rationalization, contrac- tualization and self-discipline of the public in public sphere. How to form this society and how to integrate individuals into this society？ This paper states that, owing to institutions and rules, the public sphere greatly enlarges and promotes the life space and quality of human community. Tangible and intangible institutional guarantee accounts for the possibility of free,equal and voluntary cooperation system. But institutions need the support from civil character which is acquired from social life via education, creation and cultivation.
