Objective: To observe the functional changes of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in the peripheral blood of patients with coronary slow flow (CSF). Methods: 30 patients with slow flow diagnosed by coronary arteriography were selected in the CSF group and another 30 patients with normal flow were selected in the NCF group. CSF was diagnosed when the corrected TIMI frame count (CTFC) was more than 27 frames. Mononuclear cells isolated by the human peripheral blood were drawn and were in-vitro induced and cultured for one week, then the number of EPCs were calculated under a microscope, and the proliferative, migratory and adhesive capacity of EPCs were observed. Results: The number of EPCs and the proliferative, migratory and adhesive capacity of EPCs in Peripheral blood in CSF group are lower than those in the control group, which were of significant differences (P〈0.05). Conclusion: The function reduction of EPCs in the peripheral blood of CSF patients may be involved in the pathological and physiological processes that leads to CSF.
