Reflection on Professional English Teaching in Materials Science and Engineering

材料科学与工程专业英语是针对学生在学完公共英语课后开设的一门专业课程,其目的是使学生掌握专业英语词汇,提高英语文献阅读能力,及时跟进本学科发展动态。针对目前材料科学与工程专业英语教学中出现的因教学内容枯燥、教学方式单一、学生学习兴趣不高等原因而导致的教学效果不佳的问题,通过结合实际教学体会,阐述了合理调整开设时间、丰富教学内容、改善教学手段、改变考核方式以及加强师资队伍建设等措施对提高专业英语教学效果的重要性。

Professional English in material science and engineering is a protesslonal course tor students wlaen mey have finished the public English course. The course aims to enable students to master the professional English vocab- ulary, improve their ability to read English literatures and track the development of the discipline. In view of the inef- fective teaching resulting from dull teaching contents, single teaching method, and students＇ lack of interest in study, the author, based on the practical teaching experiences, suggests that it is important to improve teaching by adjusting the schedule of professional English course, enriching the teaching contents, improving teaching method, changing the way of examination and strengthening teaching staff construction.
