黄石市汉英双语公示语使用现状调查研究

Investigation of the Condition of Chinese and English Public Signs in Huangshi

为净化黄石公共语言环境,规范公共场所汉英公示语,提升黄石在国际文化交流中的形象,笔者对黄石地区公共场所汉英公示语的使用情况进行实地考察。通过对黄石主要公共场所标注的汉英双语公示语进行统计、分类,运用翻译与文化理论进行分析,笔者发现黄石主要公共场所的双语公示语存在以下问题:双语公示语数量偏少;双语公示语信息类别较单一;指示性双语公示语中的翻译错误较多。

To improve the environment of language in Huangshi and to help build the image of Huangshi, the author of this paper explores the situation of Chinese and English public signs in Huangshi through on - site investigation. Chinese and English Public signs used in the major public places in Huangshi are collected and categorized. Through analysis of translation and cultural theories, many problems are found in the Chi- nese and English public signs： 1. Chinese and English public signs are not widely used; 2. The majority of the Chinese and English public signs are directing ones; 3. There are many mistakes in the English transla- tion of the public signs.
