专利摘要汉译英常见错误探析

Common Errors in the Chinese-English Translation of Patent Abstracts and Discussion on the Reasons Thereof

本文以中国专利信息中心质检处所审校的400篇专利摘要译文为样本,统计了其中译文错误的类型:语法错误、语义差错及专业术语差错三类;同时,在针对上述常见错误进行实例分析的基础上,将影响专利摘要汉译英质量的主要障碍因素归纳为:译员跨专业背景知识欠缺、汉英语言差异性,专利术语具有高度概括性等特征,专利中文描述本身存有歧义,译员粗心疏忽等方面。

Based on the examination result of 400 English patent abstracts corrected by the quality examination group of China Patent Information Center,this paper analyzes the error distributions calculated in the 400 abstracts,and identifies the three common types of errors in Chinese-English translation of patent abstracts： solecism,semantic mistranslation and terminology error.Through example analysis of the above errors,the main factors effecting the translation quality of patent abstracts are classified as shortage of interdisciplinary technological background,language difference between Chinese and English,and characteristic of patent terminology.
