摘要
本文通过分析视频考察我国高级英语学习者在即兴演讲中手势隐喻的使用特点,研究发现:1)手势和言语表达一样存在不同类型的概念隐喻,二者在外部表现形式和内部理据方面具有同一性;2)手势隐喻既可和言语隐喻相伴使用,也可单独使用,从多模态角度证明了概念隐喻理论有关"隐喻的本质是思维方式"论断的正确性;3)手势隐喻作为高级英语学习者隐喻能力的重要体现,在未来的外语教学中应当引入这一有效手段和评价标准。
This paper describes the usage pattern of conceptual metaphor in gesture used by Chinese EFL learners in unpre- pared public speeches by analyzing videos. The present study shows that : 1 ) conceptual metaphors in both speech and gesture share many similarities in the external form and internal motivation; 2) gestural metaphor can be used either with linguistics metaphor or independent of language which proves the validity of the assertion that" metaphor is way of thinking" in Conceptual Metaphor Theory; 3 ) gestural metaphor can be seen as an important index of metaphorical competence. Therefore, it is neces- sary to introduce metaphorical competence as an effective measure and criterion to foreign language teaching practice in the fu- ture.
