Australian Public Diplomacy in the Asian Century

随着世界经济龙头亚洲的崛起,澳大利亚战略权重日渐转向亚洲,以便在亚洲世纪里抓住机遇,应对挑战。由于历史、文化、价值观等原因,澳曾长期与亚洲格格不入。在现实利益驱动下的坎坷融亚之路上,澳倚重公共外交重塑国家形象,全面推动地区公共外交实践,其面临的挑战对寻求与亚洲共同发展的中国具有借鉴意义。

With the rise of Asia as a leader of the world economy, Australian strategic weight has been shifted gradually to Asia in order to seize the opportunities and fight against challenges there. Due to reasons of history, culture and values, Australia had long been alienating itself from Asia; while, on its road to re-embrace Asia driven by realistic interests, it has given priority to reshaping its national image, going all out to push forward the regional public diplomacy. The challenges Australia are confronting are of significance for China to seek common development with Asia.
