Since March of this year when Swedish fast fashion brand H&M's stores in Shanghai began the trial implementation of its 'clothing recycling' program, numerous customers have been packing up their old clothes and turning them into for coupons immediately used to purchase new summer clothing right off the rack.Currently,H&M plans to expand the program throughout the country during the later half of this year.Although Eric Stubin, chairman of the board for the Council for Textile Recycling(CTR) believes, 'Clothing is the easiest item to recycle in our homes,' when it comes to the Chinese clothing market,a market with a 1.3-trillion-yuan annual output value, recycling clothing is no easy task.Currently,China still lacks a mature business chain dedicated to the recycling of clothing and questions remain as to how clothing will be recycled, and who will be responsible for it.However, the entrance of this giant fast fashion brand and the resources it brings could be just the thing to make this industry a competitive reality.
