《燕丹子》以行刺秦王为题材,意在展现一群仁人志士的精神力量,当燕国国势迫急之际,他们为信义而轻生死。这一主题,渗透了公羊学"以直报怨"思想的影响。历代评论,对作品主题多有误解。
Taking Emperor Qing＇ s assassination as the subject matter, Prince Dan of Yan means to display the spiritual power of risking personal lives for the sake of their faith and lofty ideals when the Kingdom of Yan was in crisis. This theme is infiltrated into the thought of ＂requiting injustice with justice＂, which originated from the Gongyang Studies. There exist many misunderstandings in the comments of its theme throughout the dynasties.
