Background of environmental deterioration in Loess Plateau

根据黄土高原自然环境的演变规律 ,认为从千年尺度的季风气候变化趋势来看 ,目前仍然处在一个延续 31 0 0多年的相对干旱低温时期 .黄土高原属于环境敏感带 ,当前显著的气候干暖化发展趋势 ,以及与之相关的各种灾害性变化 ,是当地资源环境对于全球变暖的响应造成的 .数十年来对于水、土和生物资源的过度开发 ,是造成黄土高原及其毗邻荒漠草原地区广泛的沙漠化、土壤侵蚀、河水断流。

Environmental deterioration has already caused social and economic problems in Northwest China. Evidence from the studies of environmental change, soil science and literature indicates that the relatively arid and cool climate has already continued for about 3100 years with smaller scale variations. Dust storms have been taking place during the course. The trend of climatic drying warming and related droughts, dust storms, drying up of rivers and lakes since 1980s are the regional responses of this environmental sensitive zone to the global warming. Widespread soil erosion and desertification have been caused by over cultivation and over grazing of the steppe and the steep slopes forced by population pressure in the region.
