语境在汉英翻译中的应用

近年来,随着语言社会性研究的不断深入,语境对语言研究的作用不言而喻。翻译作为一种跨文化的交际活动,自然不能忽视语境的重要性。本文采用胡壮麟的划分原则,从语言语境、文化语境和情景语境三个层面分析语境在汉英翻译中的重要作用。在翻译中译者必须进行语境分析,通过各种语境来选择词义,从而选择最恰当的表达,达到较好的翻译效果。

Recently, the research of language has taken on its social features, which leads to intensive attention to the importance of context. As a cross-cultural communicative activity, translation is impossible without considering context. This paper probes into the functions of context from three aspects, namely linguistic context, cultural context and situational context, a classification by Hu Zhuanglin. A conclusion is reached that in effective translation, the translators must attach first priority to context, rather than just finding the correspondence of words.
