Changes of Chen Duxiu’s Religious Outlook

陈独秀的宗教观大体经历了否定——肯定——更高层次的否定过程。早期认为"一切宗教皆在废弃之列",继而主张要用"较好的宗教"代替"较不好的宗教",当他接受马克思主义以后,用唯物史观去分析宗教,认为宗教也应"受时代及社会势力的支配"。

Chen Duxiu’s religious outlook roughly experienced a process from negation to affirmation,and then a higher level of negation. He first believed that 'all religions should be discarded'. He then insisted on substituting 'better religions'for 'relatively bad religions'. After he accepted M arxism ,he began to analyze religion from the point view of historical materialism,and believed that religion should also be dominated by the times and social forces.
