摘要
自从"华夏边缘论"及其相关见解出现后,对于如何重新检视传统中国民族史的研究方法与方法论,以及如何看待华夏这个概念便引发许多讨论。本文即希望透过中国历史上回—穆斯林人群与当代回族的例子,藉由其分布于华夏核心与边缘的特殊存在事实,及其与汉族共享文化的同质性和自身有别于汉文化的伊斯兰的异质性特色,企图与"华夏边缘论"中相关的核心概念开展出另一种异例的对话与研究模式。一方面来作为对于扩大并补充该论述的参考,同时也让回族的族群文化现象在中国民族史的研究领域中得到更多且重要的定位意义。
After the emergence of theory "Chinese Borderlands" and various interpretations, it has triggered many controversial discussions about research method in the traditional studying fields of ethnohistory in China. This article attempts to use the cases of traditional Hui-Muslims or modem Hui minzu, which are never mentioned in the theory of "Chinese Borderlands" before and this unique Hui ethnicity apparently contains both homogeneity and het- erogeneity features in Chinese or Han communities to analyze the meaning of such anomaly and also to observe its a- daptive function for keeping ethnic boundaries and identity of its owned. Through the observation of Hui ethnicity in China, it not only could make a more obvious concept of the merging process of Chinesencss, but also provide the case of non-Chinese ethnic group and its socio-religious essence to shape the so-called Chinese society either in the core or marginal areas of China.
