A Preliminary Year-2010 Excavation Report on the Liushugou Cemetery in Mt. Wudang

柳树沟墓群自战国中期开始,秦、汉、宋及明清时期一直在沿用。墓葬分布密集,出土遗物较为丰富。第一阶段陶双耳罐、圜底釜、敛口平底钵等,都具有关中地区文化特色,属于关中秦文化范畴,与秦人南侵有关。第二阶段陶假圈足壶、翻卷圜底釜、甑等,仍以关中地区秦文化面貌为主,但包含了少量南方文化因素,是秦拔郢后形成的一种混融性地域文化。秦文化由北向南逐渐发展,反映出秦拔郢后一个区域文化的演变过程。通过本次发掘,进一步弄清了柳树沟墓地的整体布局,增强了资料的完整性,极大的丰富了该墓地的文化内涵,对研究汉水流域秦文化的丧葬习俗增添了一批新的实物资料。

The Liushugou cemetery is populated with burials ranging from various times periods of the middle Warring States period, Qin, Han, Song, Ming and Qing, The primary burial goods were from two periods. The artifacts of the First Period include the pottery binaural pot, the round-bottom Fu-cauldron, and the contracted-mouth=and-flat-bottom bowl, which are of cultural characteristics of the central Shaanxi plain belonging to Qin Culture and related to the southward expanding of the Qin people. The artifacts of the Second Period include the pottery ring-foot jars, the everted round-bottom Fu-cauldron and the Zeng-colander, which represents mainly the Qin Culture of the central Shaanxi plain, with minor southern cultural elements. This may be indicative of Qin Culture＇s southward expanding after Qin＇s conquering the Ying capital of Chu. The characters incised on the pottery bowls recovered from this cemetery are similar to that of the Qin tombs at the Youjiazhuang site in Shaanxi, thus providing important data for studying pottery production and potter＇s identities of Qin Culture in the Han River area. The excavation clarifies the composition of the Liushugou cemetery, adding new materials for studying funeral customs of Qin Culture in the Han River area.
