Since Habibie's inauguration in 1998, Indonesia entered into the 15th year of the new era of the democratic reform. The official policy towards the ethnic Chinese Indonesian has gone through a tremendous change and received warm responses from the Chinese community. This paper is based on a survey by sampling of non-Chinese teachers and students in Indonesia to make a general analysis of the attitudes and impressions of the non-Chinese groups towards Chinese ethnics there in terms of ethnicity, religion, locality and education, and to make a comparison between the present and the past, to highlight the changes and the degree of these changes. Another line of attention was drawn to the issue of the impact of ethnic relationships on the political participation of the Indonesian ethnic Chinese.
