本文认为,侗台语的指示词确实如一些研究者推测的那样,具有用语音屈折来实现句法互补分布的事实或趋势。

Many researchers find that Thai demonstratives fall in two groups according to their tonal features. These groups assume complementary distribution in syntactic realization. Some researchers postulate that tonal inflection and complementary distribution between the demonstrative determiners and demonstrative pronouns might also exist in all the Kam-Tai languages, only that they lack sufficient data to prove this. This paper testifies this assumption in the perspective of the demonstratives in Zhuang and other languages.
