QIAN Qianyi was a poet with great achievements at the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. But his poetry written in his late years was deeply influenced by Buddhism, which had something to do with his surrender to the Qing govermnent. His po- etry was full of strong tragic sense of empty illusion. His sorrowful experience and empty feelings form a kind of sad poetic artistic conception that truly reflected his misery in his late years of life.
