Five Steps to Learn and Memorize English Words

如何扩大词汇量是大学英语学生面对的难题之一。词汇量太低,必然会在听力、口语、阅读、写作和翻译等方面遇到重重阻碍,英语的整体水平自然无法提高。为了有效记忆词汇,在学习词汇时应遵循五个步骤:发音、拼写、词性、词义和用法,并在此过程中运用联想法、分类法及构词法等方法去复习和拓展与这个单词相关的其他系列词汇,从而达到扩大词汇量的目的。

How to enlarge vocabulary is one of the di^culties college students are faced with. With a poor vocabulary, they axe bound to meet with obstacles in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, and it＇s rather hard for them to improve the overall level of their En glish.In order to effectively memorize words,they should follow the five steps to learn a word, that is, pronunciation, spelling, part of speech, meaning and usage. During the course of learning,they should also try to use skills of association,classification and rules of word formation to review and expand vocabulary related to the word so as to build up words.
