My Humble Opinion on Compilation Explanations of Provincial Records

《编修说明》（或称《出版说明》）作为一种应运而生的志书体例形式，始见于部分首轮省级志书，并在第二轮省级志书中进一步推广。其作用不可或缺，既辅助全志《凡例》规范志书编纂、说明特定分卷的编纂意图，同时引导读者读志用志。通过分析阐述省级志书《编修说明》的设置形式、产生缘由、主要作用、存在问题、编写要求等，对了解和正确运用这一体例形式作系统探讨。

Compilation Explanations (or Publication Explanations),as a local records style form born at the right moment,was first seen in some of the first-round local records,and was further popularized in second-round local records.It plays an indispensable role,assisting the General Notes of the local records to regulate local records compilation,explaining the compilation purpose of a particular sub-volume,while at the same time leading users to read and use the local records.Through analyzing and explaining the forms of setup,origin,main functions,existing problems,and compilation requirements of compilation explanations of provincial records,this article systematically discusses the understanding and correct usage of this style form.
