The Origin and Development of Military Records in China

早在战国时期,地图就已经具备军事志元素。经过千百年的文化积淀,南宋初期,作为综合性志书的一个组成部分,军事分志喷薄而出。明代初年,自成体系、独立成书的军事专志应运而生。清代中叶到民国时期,以特定部队、兵种为记述对象的专业性军事志又异军突起。历史充分证明,我国军事志具有源远流长、与时俱进的文化传统。

As early as the Warring States period,maps already bore elements of military records.Through cultural accumulation of hundreds and thousands of years,by early Southern Song Dynasty,military sub-records emerged as a component of comprehensive local records.In the early Ming Dynasty,independent military records on specific issues taking the form of books in their own right were born in response to the requirements of the times.From the mid-Qing Dynasty to the Republican Period,specialized military records taking particular troops and branches of the armed forces as recording objects suddenly emerged.History has proven with plenty of evidence that military records of China bear a cultural tradition of long standing which is advancing with the times.
