DNA结构发现者之一、诺贝尔奖得主詹姆斯·沃森于3月21日晨访问位于拉荷亚的索尔克研究所，并就氧化剂和抗氧化剂对癌症和糖尿病的作用发表演讲。因协助发现了DNA结构而获得诺贝尔奖的詹姆斯·沃森称，目前来看基因排序对癌症等疾病的治疗并无特殊帮助，当下进行的许多此类课题研究都是与疾病治疗无关的。
Noble laureate James Watson who co-discovered the structure of DNA visited the Salk Institute in La Jolla and gave a lecture on oxidants and antioxidants in cancer and diabetes in the morning on March 21 James Watson, who earned the Nobel Prize for helping figure out the structure of DNA, said Thursday that sequencing genes is n＇t pro ving to be particularly useful in fighting such diseases as cancer and that much of the research being done on the subject is irrelevant
