“白头不是落时人”——记孔尚任与刘棨的宾主情

Host-guest Affection between Kong Shangren and Liu Qi

康熙四十六年(1707),孔尚任受平阳知府刘棨之邀,前往平阳协助刘棨制礼乐、编府志。两人之间结下的这段宾主之情,虽然时间不长,但却极为深厚,而且对两人均具有重要意义。刘棨对孔尚任的赏识与礼遇,使孔尚任的才能再度有了用武之地,也使孔尚任在罢官之后一时心情畅达起来;而刘棨也借此展示了自己循吏之才的一个方面。

In 1707, Kong Shangren was invited by Pingyang prefect Liu Qi music books and notes of Pingyang government. Though it was a short period, and assisted him to compile ritual and they formed deep friendship of great significance to both of them. The appreciation and courtesy of Liu Qi encouraged Kong Shangren his talent and made him happy. Liu Qi also showed one aspect of his official capability and was promoted which was to display soon.
