民国时期天津租界外侨精英社团——扶轮社述论

Study on the Alien Elite Societies in Modern Tientsin's Foreign Concessions:Rotary Club of Tientsin

本文以成立于1922年天津租界的国际扶轮社分支——天津扶轮社为个案,详细梳理了该社宗旨、组织变化与成员构成、扶轮社聚会与讲座情况,介绍了其以帮助弱势群体、男孩培养计划(Boy Work)、社会服务与公共卫生实践为中心的活动。通过天津租界外侨与华人间以社团为媒介展开的群体互动,考察了外侨精英社团公益性、慈善性的社会服务宗旨,对反对战争、帮助弱势群体的普世价值的倡导,有助于对近代在华外侨群体问题的重新思考。

Taking one of the branches of Rotary International in the Republic of China - the Rotary Club of Tientsin as an example, this paper makes a preliminary ease study on Rotary＇s mission, evolution, organization, meetings and lectures, introduces its social activities such as helping the disadvantaged groups, Boys＇ work and public health practice. Through their interactions with native Chinese elites in foreign concessions, alien elite societies＇ principles of charity, public welfare, universal values of peace and helping the vulnerable groups are demonstrated, which provides a new perspective for reconsidering the nature of the alien groups in modem China.
