After the September 18th Incident,Chinese were shocked at Japanese occupation of Northeastern China, and turned to ponder on frontier administration and construction. As a result, people had paid a good deal of attention to history, culture, ethnic groups and practical problems in borderlands. The construction and spreading of frontier discourse became popular at the time, during which periodical publications played an important role. In several years before the breaking out of the national anti-Japanese war, a vast amount of frontier research periodicals had come forth constantly. And Yugong Semi-monthly and New Asia Monthly, with both common and different grounds, became academic representatives among them. By means of comparative studies, this paper discusses the situation, characteristics and social influence of the construction and spreading of frontier discourse during the period.
